Dogs can adapt to a vegetarian diet, but cats cannot. Ideally, both dogs and cats would be eating a high proportion of fresh, wholesome meats in their diet as well as adequate moisture. But since not everyone has the means to
prepare their pets’ food at home, low-carb canned diets and frozen raw diets are excellent options.

The article is really about cats, who should really NEVER be on a vegetarian diet. At least dogs can handle it for a short period of time so that you can do exclusion diets to determine if they have allergies, but cats NEED to have nutrients from animal sources.
